Salinas Valley Health Professions Pathway Partnership (SVHPPP)

The Salinas Valley Health Professions Pathway Partnership (SVHPPP) is a kindergarten - employer pathway which seeks to train and grow the number of qualified healthcare workers in the Salinas Valley.  The existing partnerships with education in the lower grades, local universities, and local employers has expanded opportunities for Monterey County to grow its own talent.  We are focused on allied health careers with the knowledge that the field of healthcare generates upward income mobility for individuals looking to better their lives and their community.

Our Mission:
To grow a local, culturally relevant workforce with the Salinas Valley youth in the healthcare industry for high wage, high skill, and high demand careers while serving their community.

Meet our most recent Salinas Valley Health Professions Pathway Partnership (SVHPPP) Intern, Maria Santillan!
Maria was born in Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico, and raised in East Salinas, CA.
She recently graduated from Hartnell Community College and received an AA- Liberal Arts with Emphasis in Psychology Degree.
Maria is at Fresno State, pursuing a career in nursing as a registered nurse.
Maria's education is extremely important to her as she is the first generation of her family to attend college.
When not working, Maria volunteers at her local Natividad Medical Center Hospital.
Currently, she holds a position as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) where she helps the elderly with daily life skills.
Maria has overcame all obstacles that have presented themselves as a result of coming from a socially, educationally, and economically disadvantaged family.
She is a great example to her Hispanic/Latino Community that everything is possible!
One of her all time favorite quote and that she stands by is: Good, Better, Best, never let it rest until your Good is better and your Better is Best!
