Given the length of time since implementation and concerns expressed by faculty, staff and administration, the academic senate will embark upon a review and assessment of the college’s shared governance model and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees for change.
The academic senate will establish a task force and invite a representative of the classified senate, student senate, administration, faculty union and board to join us in this important endeavor. We envision that this task force will receive written documentation and oral testimony from those involved in the college’s shared governance committees.
The academic senate wants to know if the current shared governance model/process is really working or are we just window dressing? The following questions will be asked of all shared governance committees:
March 2007: Form the task force
April 2007: Receive data and input
May 2007: Assess data and draft develop recommendations
September 2007: Present draft recommendations to campus community
October 2007: Review campus input and develop final recommendations
November 2007: Present recommendations to Board of Trustees
