3105 Grievance Policy for Students
Grievances by Hartnell College students, concerning Hartnell College
personnel and/or procedures, shall be handled in compliance with Title
IX, the California Education Code, and this policy. Students shall
be granted and assured all rights and procedures inherent in the above,
and Hartnell College shall make a comprehensive effort to ensure that
all students are informed of and, as applicable, assisted with these
procedures.Student grievances include:
1) charges of discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, ancestry, ethnic group, religion, national origin, or handicap;
2) arbitrary imposition of sanctions without proper regard for individual civil rights and due process;
3) prejudiced or capricious decision in the academic evaluation of a student's performance;
4) other complaint(s) as determined in the legislation and policies stated above.
Information on student rights and grievances complaint procedures is available in the Office of Student Services and Counseling in the brochure entitled: "Rights, Responsibilities, and Grievance Procedures of Hartnell College Student." Copies of Affirmative Action laws and procedures are available in the Office of Human Resources and Equal Employment Opportunity.
