Coach Chris Zepeda became a Hartnell College Panther in the fall of 2006 as an assistant coach. He was promoted to Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach in the spring of 2007. Since then, the Panthers have continued to

Norcal Women's Teamexcel at the conference, regional, and state level. Prior to Hartnell, Coach Zepeda served as assistant coach at Butte College, head coach at Biggs High School, and assistant coach at Neosho County Community College (KS).

While at Hartnell, the men's cross country program has won seven Coast Conference titles and has placed in the top three in Northern California six times with a regional title in 2006. The women's cross country program has 

been equally successful with five Coast Conference titles, has been the Norcal team champion three times, and placed in the top three six times. The men's track & field program has continued long-time dominance of the Coast Conference with seven team titles and recent third place overall in Northern California in 2014. The women's track & field team repeated as conference team champions in 2013 and 2014 and added second and third place regional trophies in the same years.

In the fall of 2013, Coach Zepeda was hired as full-time coach/kinesiology instructor and now teaches HED 6 Multicultural Health. He is happily married to his wife Kim and has a son named Lucas Miles Zepeda and a cat named Lulu.
