How to Publish Your Web Site to the Internet
Once you have built your web site, you will want to make it accessible from the Internet. To do so, you will need to store your htm, html, sound, movie and graphic files on a web server. If you are a student at CSUMB, instructions for moving your files
onto the seal server can be found at Tech Support within the Network and Computing section of the CSUMB website. Be sure to move your files into the WORLD directory.
If you prefer, you can obtain free server space from Geocities,
Xoom, or Angelfire, or other free hosting services. To move your web site files into your free server space, you will need to follow the instructions provided by each hosting service. This
information is usually found in the Members Only section of their individual web sites. Some will require you use their own online file manager tools to move, delete or rename website files. Others will permit you to use an FTP client, such as
WS_FTP, to move your files into the free server space. Each will provide you with step by step instructions for accomplishing this. If you have any questions or discover problems completing this process, contact your instructor for individualized
assistance.
