Exercise

Using the steps outlined in the previous exercise and following the two examples to the right, practice memorizing the names and faces on the next four pages. Remember to start with a desire to remember names and a goal to be successful. This exercise is very important and when completed will begin your future success at remembering names and will make a dramatic difference in your success in life.

1. Concentrate - Look very carefully at each picture of the individuals on the following pages. Get the name, review for spelling and clarification.

2. Visualize - Look at the person and notice something about them, a feature, manner, style, looks, clothes. Exaggerate this feature in your imagination.

3. Substitute - Make a concrete word out of the name. Make the name meaningful. Notice something about the name, the sound, a rhyme, a meaning, a familiarity, an exaggeration. Use your imagination!

4. Associate - Now associate the concrete word for the name with the special feature of the person.

5. Review - Spend several seconds per association to make sure that there is a very strong connection. Cover the picture and rehearse the name. After 24 hours, return to the pictures, cover the name, and write the names in the the space provided.
