The purpose of financial aid programs is to remove financial barriers that may prevent you from pursuing your educational goals. By working on your application together, we can help you understand how to pay your way through college and you can reach your goals more quickly.

When you access financial assistance at Hartnell, you will begin to tailor your educational path to fulfill your aspirations, whether you want to transfer to a four-year university, earn a certificate of completion, or earn an associate degree.

Financial Aid programs attempt to fill the gap that may exist between the cost of education and the money available to students from family, employment, savings, and other resources. Hartnell’s Financial Aid programs assist students who might otherwise be unable to continue their education due to financial hardship.

We offer a variety of financial aid programs that are funded by government and private sources to help you get through college. These include grants, work-study opportunities, scholarships, and loan programs. Since there are so many ways to finance your education, Hartnell's Financial Aid Office can provide key information to help you access the kind of assistance to meet your unique needs. You can also use our NET PRICE CALCULATOR to get as estimate on how much it will cost to attend Hartnell and the amount of grants and scholarships you may qualify for at Hartnell.

We sincerely hope that you will count on us to help you through the entire financial aid process!

Important Announcements

There is a new 600% (6 FT Years) lifetime limit to Pell grant. Watch for notifications from the Department of Ed or check www.nslds.ed.gov to see what percent you have reached. Plan ahead, so you can save 300% for when you transfer.

Beginning Summer Term 2012 Hartnell Community College will no longer participate in the Federal Direct Student Loan Program. Hartnell will continue to make a variety of federal, state, and private grants, scholarships, and work programs available to students.

Hartnell's student loan default rate has risen drastically in the last two years. This is the result of some Hartnell students not repaying their student loans. The Department of Education has determined that schools with high default rates may not be allowed to participate in other financial aid programs, like Pell Grant. In order to protect Hartnell's ability to provide other financial aid to students, Hartnell has made the decision to no longer offer Direct Student Loans.
