2013 Hartnell College Nursing Scholarship Application

Hartnell Nursing Scholarships are awarded to selected students who show scholastic achievement, promise for professional advancement, and the ability to contribute to the Nursing profession and the community.

Eligibility is based on:

  • Acceptance into the Vocational and Registered Nursing Programs; OR
  • Planning to transfer to a BSN program (evidence of acceptance required) AND
  • Receiving a grade of "C" or better in ALL course work.

The Critical Systems Inc. Breakthrough Technology Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to students who write an essay on their motivation to pursue an engineering degree in their chosen area.

The Debt.CA International Student Loans Scholarship

For a chance at being awarded one of two $500 scholarships, students interested in applying must write an essay on the following topic: "How to save money for an emergency fund."

Monterey Bay American Public Works Chapter Scholarship

Every year APWA's Monterey Bay Chapter awards up to four scholarship grants to college students pursuing degrees in civil engineering or other public works/construction related degrees. Open to permanent residents of Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties who are enrolled in at least 12-units of course work at an accredited university or community college. Preference will be given to students who have completed one full year of course work and have completed, or are currently taking, classes specific to civil engineering, construction management, and related disciplines.

California Students Scholarship

If you are a California resident between the ages of 18 and 25, and are currently a full-time student at a community college or 4-year university in California, Shift Insurance has a golden opportunity for you. Simply submit an application in which you explain how you have managed to begin creating your own path toward success- by seizing opportunities, taking initiative, and going the extra mile- and you could receive $500!

Eligibility Requirements:

California resident enrolled in a California institution - The California Students Scholarship is only available to California residents between the ages of 18 and 25 that are enrolled in a California community college or 4 year university. Out-of-state students who are new California residents and AB540 students are also eligible!

Full-time student- Applicants must be enrolled full time (at least 12 undergraduate units or 8-9 graduate units) at a single educational institution.

Application Submission - Visit our scholarship application page and follow the directions for completing your submission. Applications must be received no later than 11:59pm PST on September 30, 2013.

Response to Prompt - In 500-600 words, write a brief response to the following prompt: "While opportunities may seem big or small, what truly distinguishes opportunities from each other is how one makes the most of them in order to learn from the experience. Think about an opportunity you recently sought and took advantage of. How did you take initiative and/or go the extra mile to ensure that your experience would be a stepping stone from which to build future successes off of? Dan Franscioni Scholarship Fund 2013

This scholarship was established in memory of Danny and Rena Frascioni. Danny was a star athlete at Gonzales High School, became a pilot and a well-respected farmer in the Salinas Valley. Danny was an extreme and passionate man who lived life to the fullest but he was also a very loving, generous and caring person who showed everyone the living definition of what it takes to be a "truly good guy." Rena was Danny's beloved godmother and a lifelong resident of Gonzales. She was well known in the Salinas Valley for her baked goods and her giving and caring nature.

Eligibility requirements:
Gonzales High School graduate
Minimum 2.0 GPA
Active member, in good standing, with the Gonzales High School FFA

Medical Goods, Inc. Minority Nursing Student Scholarship

If you're an African American, Native American, or Hispanic American U.S. citizen pursuing a higher education degree in Nursing, then you're eligible for this $1,000 scholarship!

What you will need to apply:

  • A cover letter with your name, address, and name of higher education institution in which you are currently enrolled, or plan to enroll
  • Copy of Official Transcripts (PDF)
  • 400-600 word essay answering the question: How has being a minority affected your pre-college education?

Veterans United Foundation Scholarship


This scholarship program aims to assist military service members and their families by awarding five bi-annual $2,000 scholarships to help pay for tuition and books. Potential applicants must be pursuing a post-secondary degree at an accredited college or university and have a connection to the military by being one of the following:

  • Active-duty service member
  • Veteran
  • Spouse of military member or veteran
  • Surviving spouse of a fallen soldier
  • Child of a military member or veteran

High school seniors and current college/university students are encouraged to apply. Applicants must submit an essay no longer than 750 words based on one of three prompts made available in the spring and fall by Veterans United Scholarship Program.
