2009 TALBOTS WOMEN’S SCHOLARSHIP FUND

In keeping with our long-standing belief in the power of education, the Talbots Charitable Foundation is proud to offer a scholarship fund for women looking to pursue a college education later in life. To date, we have awarded over
$1 million in scholarships to deserving women ranging in age from their late 20s to 60s.
Up to 66 scholarships totaling $120,000 will be awarded for the 2009 academic year.
Applications will be available online starting November 15, 2008, at

Only the first 1,500 eligible applications received will be processed.
Eligibility
Applicants to the Talbots Women’s Scholarship Fund must:
• Be women currently residing in the United States or Canada;
• Be women who have earned a high school diploma or their GED on or before September 1999;
• Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full- or part-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited 2- or 4- year college, university, or vocational-technical school;
• Be attending the full 2009-10 academic year and receiving a degree no earlier than May 2010; and
• Have at least two semesters (24 credit hours or more) remaining to complete an undergraduate* degree as of the beginning of the 2009 fall academic term.
*Students who have previously obtained a bachelor’s degree are not eligible to apply.

Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program
DEADLINE: January 20, 2009
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship honors excellence by supporting outstanding community college students with financial need to transfer to and complete their bachelor’s degrees at the nation’s top four-year colleges and universities.

Karl S. Pister Leadership Opportunity Program, A prestigious $20,000 scholarship to attend UC Santa Cruz
DEADLINE: February 6, 2009
This scholarship is for junior-level UC transfer-eligible students who:
- Have shown exceptional achievement through academic and extracurricular accomplishments despite adverse socioeconomic conditions;
- Have demonstrated an involvement in activities that assist and improve the lives of others;
- Exhibit outstanding leadership qualities that reflect the ideas of the Pister Leadership Opportunity Program;
- Because of financial need, would not otherwise be able to attend UC Santa Cruz;
- Are U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizens.
How to Apply
Visit the Hartnell College Scholarship Office, Room C156 to pick up an application for the Karl S. Pister Leadership Opportunity Program scholarship.
Apply for admission to UC Santa Cruz during the filing period, November 1-30, 2008. Visit the Transfer Center for more information.
Apply for financial aid by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 2, 2009.

Chicana/Latina Foundation

The Chicana Latina Scholarship Fund awards merit-based scholarships valued at $1,500.
The purpose of the Chicana/Latina Foundation Scholarship Fund is to assist Latina students in completing their undergraduate and graduate college education. These scholarships are available on a competitive basis to continuing undergraduate and graduate female college students of Latino background.
