Writing as Architecture by Chris Volkay
The last known written word has
finally been determined.
Penned by some guy named “Adcock,”
first name unknown. Lived
in Bangor Maine, circa
There is no more writing,
only strings and conglomerated clusters
of letters, properly punctuated,
syntaxed, polished into columns,
Da Vinci and Van Gogh
with rollers and spray cans,
following the paint by numbers,
written on the walls,
the chalk white stucco walls.
Rules, formulas, structures, guidelines,
over-seen by the self-appointed
New York gate-keepers.
Assuring conjoined, condo-ized,
mowed, land-filled and stuccoed,
Chalk white stucco.
