Who Will Live in my Castle?

I built a castle in and of the sand,
Complete with flag and moat.
I lined the walls with rocks and shells
And launched a tiny boat.

A dog ran by: I winced with fear
To see my castle fall.
I knew a wave would rise in time
To crush, dissolve it all.

Oh, I have lived in towered dreams,
Some earth, some heaven based.
I’ve fashioned many lovely hearths
That time and life erased.

Who will live in my castle?
Who will venture inside?
Who will take my hand and heart?
Come, let’s beat the tide.
