ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE/POST INSTRUCTOR

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Responsible for teaching assignments in Administration of Justice which typically include, but are not limited to, Introduction of Administration of Justice, Arrest and Firearms, Police and Community Relations, Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, Juvenile Procedures, and other POST-related courses. The Instructor will also be expected to assume the usual non-teaching duties such as serving on college committees, developing curriculum, program review, keeping scheduled office hours, assisting in a variety of student-related activities, and maintaining relationships with POST law enforcement and correctional agencies, the employment community and feeder schools. Assignment may include day, evening and weekend classes, and classes off the main campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*
- Must be sensitive to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the community at-large.
- Any bachelor’s degree AND two years of related experience OR any associate degree AND six years related experience.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*
- A Master’s in Criminal Justice or a related field.
- Experience in a law-enforcement field.
- POST certified instructor.
- Experience teaching criminal justice and law enforcement.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Regular, full-time, academic, tenure-track position to begin August 12, 2004. Starting salary range: $35,009 to $60,223 per academic year based on 177 days (placement dependent upon educational background and appropriate full-time teaching and industry experience). District-assisted health and welfare coverage for employee and dependents includes medical, dental, and vision. Life, accident, and income protection insurance premiums are available for the employee only. State Teacher’s Retirement System (STRS) membership is required. District participates in contributions to STRS.
Individual selected must be fingerprinted and submit to a tuberculosis examination.
