REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Administer the year-round testing for basic skills (STAAR) and federally mandated testing for English proficient and ESL students; assist with providing individualized tests for students with disabilities and other special needs.

Perform varied technical work in support of the assessment component of the matriculation plan; oversee and participate in the proctoring of the assessment component portion of the matriculation plan; serve as a member of the STAAR team.

Proctor scheduled STAAR assessments off site; drive a vehicle to area high schools, adult schools and healthy start classes as needed.

Make presentations providing an overview of the entire registration process to students taking various forms of STAAR assessments; design and distribute handouts and other instructional materials explaining processes.

Score various assessments according to established procedures; input or oversee student worker’s input of each student’s English placement.

Operate a computer and maintain assigned databases related to STAAR assessments and other tests; operate a computerized scoring scanner, electronic scanner, overhead projector and various office equipment as assigned.

Prepare and distribute schedules for assessments and tests; schedule individual assessment and testing appointments as needed.

Create and send correspondence; prepare assessment packets; prepare bulk mailings; send reminder notices as needed.

Communicate with various departments and outside organizations to exchange information, resolve issues or concerns and coordinate activities.

Track students taking STAAR assessments through the Counseling 21/Orientation; prepare and maintain related records.

Participate in various special projects as needed.

Design databases and formulate reports related to STAAR assessments and other tests, and Counseling 21/Orientation.

Prepare and review short and long term goals and objectives for the assessment component of matriculation.

Maintain proper testing environment on site and off site; assure compliance with testing standards.

Must be sensitive to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the community at-large.

Any combination equivalent to: An associate’s degree in a related field and three years experience involving frequent public contact.

A valid California driver’s license.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Regular, part-time (20 hours), 12 months per year position. Starting salary:
$1,072.50; Range: $1,072.50 to $1,304.50 (5 steps).
Vacation and sick leave are accrued on a pro-rated basis.
Must become a member of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS)
and the California School Employees Association (CSEA).
The District pays the classified employee’s contribution to PERS.
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00
p.m., Monday to Friday.
