AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION INSTRUCTOR

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Responsible for teaching assignments in the Auto Collision Repair discipline which typically includes: Introduction to auto collision repair & painting, mixing of paints, color matching, blend painting with base coast & clear coats, tri-coat painting & single stage painting, sheet metal repair & replacement, sectioning, glass replacement stationary & moveable, interior removal & replacement, estimating manual & computerized, frame straightening (unitized and body over frame). Use and teach the CHIEF computerized laser equipment and frame rack. Fulfill the professional responsibilities of a full-time faculty member, including, but not limited to: Teaching all scheduled classes; following the course outline; keeping accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and progress; posting and maintaining scheduled office hours; developing curriculum; participating in departmental meetings and college-wide activities and committees; and maintaining relationships with feeder schools as well as the business/industry community through our school relations office and personal contact with local firms. Assignment may include day, evening, and weekend hours, and classes off the main campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*
- Must be sensitive to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the community at-large.
- Any Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience OR
- Any Associate degree and six years of related experience.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*
- Experience teaching to culturally diverse and nontraditional students.
- ASE Certification in Auto Collision Repair.
- I-CAR Qualification in Collision Repair 2000.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Regular, full time, academic, tenure-track position beginning August 2003. Starting salary range: $34,419 to $57,126 per academic year based on 177 days (placement dependent upon educational background and appropriate full-time teaching and counseling experience). District-assisted health and welfare coverage for employee and dependents includes medical, dental, and vision. Life, accident, and income protection insurance premiums are available for the employee only. State Teacher's Retirement System (STRS) membership is required. The District participates in contributions to STRS.
Individual selected must be fingerprinted and submit to a tuberculosis examination.
