REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

- Maintain a variety of logs, records and files related to assigned office; sort, classify and file materials in alpha, numeric or other established sequence.
- Distribute various forms and provide information and assistance to students, the public and staff in an accurate and timely manner.
- Perform receptionist duties and answer telephones; take and relay messages; greet students and the public and provide routine information; direct inquiries to the appropriate person or office; make telephone calls to request, provide or verify information as directed.
- Operate a variety of office equipment, such as typewriter, calculator and copy machine; operate computer equipment to enter and retrieve data, maintain records and generate reports.
- Maintain supply and material inventory of assigned area as required; order, receive and distribute materials, equipment and supplies as directed.
- Assure the timely duplication and distribution of a variety of records, reports and other materials as directed.
- Perform clerical work such as posting records, making arithmetic computations and securing information from clearly indicated sources.
- Type and perform other clerical duties for the assigned supervisor, and other staff members as directed.
- Schedule appointments and meetings; maintain various schedules and calendars.
- Sort and distribute incoming U.S. and District mail.
QUALIFICATIONS*
- Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of clerical experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), bookkeeping, and experience using MS Excel desired.
- Must be sensitive to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the community-at-large.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Regular,
full-time, 12 months per year position. Starting monthly salary: $2,193; Range:
$2,193 to $2,666 (5 steps). District-assisted
health and welfare coverage for employee and dependents includes medical, dental,
and vision. District-assisted life,
accident and income protection insurance is provided for the employee only.
Must become a member of the California School Employees Association (CSEA) and
the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS). The District pays the classified employee’s contribution to PERS.
All offers of employment are contingent upon approval by the Board of Trustees, receipt of official transcripts verifying the degree stipulated under the minimum qualifications section, employment verification, and any other pertinent documentation.
Individual selected is required to be fingerprinted and must submit to a tuberculosis examination.
