Director of Counseling, Matriculation and Transfer Services

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Plan, supervise, direct, facilitate, and provide leadership to the counseling, matriculation and transfer programs of the college.

  • Provide administrative direction for the college’s assessment and testing program, transfer center, probation program, and high school special programs.

  • Control, direct, and supervise matters related to matriculation services, personal development courses, new counseling course offerings, staffing, student services program development, personnel issues, evaluation of faculty, preparation of grant proposals, budget preparation, work schedules, counseling class schedules, and counseling and matriculation services materials for the college catalog.

  • Assist with the evaluation of the counseling curriculum in collaboration with Counseling Faculty.

  • Recommend new and innovative student services programs.

  • Work with administrators of off-campus centers to determine the counseling and matriculation and transfer services needs of centers.

  • Direct and participate in the preparation and control of the Counseling Division annual budget.

  • Meet regularly with counseling department and program coordinators and supervisors.

  • Serve on various committees.

  • Assist in the selection of faculty and staff; assist with the development of job announcements.

  • Provide administrative direction for the college’s assessment and testing program, transfer center, probation program, and high school programs.

  • Prepare oral and written presentations and reports.

  • Represent the college in interactions with community and state agencies, special interest groups, business and industry, other colleges and school districts and within the Community College Chancellor’s Office.

  • Responsible for professional staff development programs, associate counseling faulty orientation, and student services research and follow-up.

  • Assist with enrollment management strategies of the college.

  • Prepare applications for federal and state grants; prepare reports required for and by federal and state agencies.

  • Advise and assist the Vice President of Student Services in implementing the total student services program.


  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • Must be sensitive to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the community at-large.

  • A master’s degree and one year of related formal training, internship, or leadership experience.


  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • Experience in curriculum development.

  • Experience in grant development and resource acquisition.

  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Full time, classified management position. Salary range: $64,656 to $75,694 per year based on 224 working days (placement dependent upon educational background and relevant experience). Annual doctoral stipend: $1,500.

    District-assisted health and welfare coverage for employee and dependents includes medical, dental, and vision. Life, accident, and income protection insurance premiums are available for the employee only. The District participates in contributions to the appropriate retirement system.


    All offers of employment are contingent upon approval by the Board of Trustees, receipt of official transcripts verifying the degree stipulated under the minimum qualifications section, employment verification, and any other pertinent documentation.


    Individual selected is required to be fingerprinted and must submit to a tuberculosis examination.
