REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Performs varied and responsible administrative work in directly planning and coordinating the work of the Financial Aid Office.
- Applies applicable federal and state laws, regulations and guidelines to individual student cases.
- Serves as the first-level supervisor over assigned staff of the Financial Aid Office.
- Implements and maintains the Financial Aid module of the Datatel Colleague software.
- Applies, understands, and administers current technological equipment and programs to provide the delivery of efficient financial aid services.
- Acts with a high degree of independence of action in the assigned area of responsibility.
- Develops methods and procedures to solve problems encountered, except where a deviation in policy is involved.
- Produces measurable results and outcomes without direct supervision.
- Formulates, interprets, and administers policies and procedures for Federal and State financial aid programs.
- Determines all student financial aid awards based on student eligibility and the availability of funds.
- Prepares and completes Federal, State, and institutional financial aid reports.
- Formulates and administers annual budgets.
- Works cooperatively as a liaison with other college departments.
- Develops and coordinates recruitment efforts with the students services component.
- Develops financial aid and other specials student services brochures, handbooks, and outreach material.
- Determines complex needs analysis.
- Assumes additional managerial responsibilities as appropriate to the position, and performs other duties assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*
- Must be sensitive to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the community at-large.
- Any Associates degree from an accredited institution or the equivalent.
- Five years of increasingly responsible, recent experience in a student services function (financial aid, EOPS, re-entry, or a related program).
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- A general understanding of the California Community College system and related organizations.
- Ability to provide leadership in planning, supervising, implementing, and evaluating ideas and programs in areas related to the position.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Regular, full time, academic management position. Salary range: $57,920 to $69,261 per year based on 224 working days (placement dependent upon relevant experience). Annual doctoral stipend: $1,500. District-assisted health and welfare coverage for employee and dependents includes medical, dental, and vision. Life, accident, and income protection insurance premiums are available for the employee only. The District participates in contributions to the appropriate retirement system.

minimum qualifications section, employment verification, and any other pertinent
