DIRECTOR OF REGIONAL HEALTH OCCUPATIONS RESOURCE CENTER

DEFINITION

Under general direction of the Vice-President for Instruction, administers personnel procedures, programs and policies and directs the operations and activities of the Regional Health Occupations Resource Center.


SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Regional Health Occupations Resource Center including the supervision and evaluation of Center staff, preparation and administration of Center budget, and development and enforcement of appropriate Center policies and procedures.

Acts as a resource for health occupations information for health care agencies and colleges in the designated region (Central California Region V, consisting of 14 community colleges), collects and collates appropriate data to assist in the development of needed health occupations programs for the health care industry and for the colleges in the region.

Oversees the collaboration between colleges and the health care industry, appoints and facilitates region-wide committees consisting of college, industry, and governmental agencies that are tasked with the development of health occupational training programs, development and implementation of faculty and industry employee training seminars and workshops, and with identifying resource needs and strategic planning needs to sustain and expand regional industry growth through education and training programs.

Participates in the regional economic development consortium (BRAIN) and collaborates with other colleges to respond to the continuous work force training needs of the region, participates in various health occupational workshops, conferences, etc.

Serves on the statewide Health Occupations Advisor Committee, attends appropriate Boards and Commissions meetings related to health occupations.



SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Appoint and supervise up to four assistant directors (budget allowing).
  • Appoint and supervise campus coordinators for each regional campus.
  • Appoint and convene three region-wide committees.
  • Participate in the regional economic development consortium (BRAIN)
  • Collaborate with other colleges to respond to the continuous work-force training needs of the region.
  • Maintain a dynamic, regional consortium composed of health industry employers, state and local employment and economic development agencies and educators.
  • Develop and distribute information related to health occupations
  • Develop and present workshops for health occupations faculty and industry staff.
  • Provide leadership to guide the development of educational programs related to health occupations.
  • Assess regional work-force training needs and assist in the development of performance-based curricula.
  • Provide contract training for health care industry employers.
  • Develop and/or administer certification examinations as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a resource library on health care industry issues, education and training programs, etc.
  • Collect data and assess and analyze health care delivery issues.
  • Work with other educational institutions on school-to-career and other career preparation programs.
  • Establish private sector linkages to provide training in health care related topics.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Sensitive to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic and disability backgrounds of community college students and the community at-large.
  • A Master's degree in health profession or health education profession from an accredited institution.
  • Three years of recent management experience in directing and administrating a variety of health occupations educational programs.
  • One year teaching experience in a health-occupation program.
  • Licensure as a health professional and five years of experience in direct patient care in a variety of settings.
  • Working knowledge of the laws, codes, and regulations relating to health care and educational programs.
  • Knowledge of the health care industry standards statewide and service on statewide committees, commissions, or boards related to health care is highly desirable.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Full-time, academic management, 224 days per year position. Annual salary range: $91,942 to $103,296. Annual Doctoral stipend: $1,500. District-assisted health and welfare coverage for the employee and dependents includes medical, dental, and vision. Life, accident, and income protection insurance premiums are provided for the employee only. The District participates in contributions to the appropriate retirement system, which is a required membership for the position. Position is contingent on renewal of annual grant funding.



All offers of employment are contingent upon approval by the Board of Trustees, receipt of official transcripts verifying the degree stipulated under the minimum qualifications section, employment verification, and any other pertinent documentation.

Individual selected is required to be fingerprinted and must submit to a tuberculosis examination.
