Director of Student Outreach

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Provides leadership in planning, marketing, supervising, implementing, and evaluating student outreach programs.
  • Develops and coordinates a systematic college-wide student recruitment program; develops a uniform recruitment packet to be used by all constituencies.
  • Maintains a working relationship with the Marketing Committee, the EOPS office, the Counseling Center and other college units.
  • Coordinates activities provided at Enrollment Center in Alisal Campus
  • Provides leadership in establishing and maintaining continued contacts with community leaders.
  • Identifies and conducts educational needs assessment of non-traditional and under-served communities and prepares reports on needs; communicates needs to appropriate offices; coordinates the development of a plan to meet those needs.
  • Provides an annual written evaluation of program enrollment trends and student gains.
  • Establishes a database of all contacts made and develops a system for timely communication.
  • Visits and/or coordinates recruitment activities held at public schools, colleges, public agencies and private businesses; visits feeder high schools, meets with high school students and counselors to promote Hartnell College as their college of choice.
  • Develops a training program and assists in the training of personnel that conducts campus tours; provides an annual written evaluation of staff under direct supervision.
  • Develops and maintains a schedule of on-campus tours.
  • Prepares budgets and maintains encumbrance records for areas under supervision.
  • Coordinates youth conferences targeting specific at-risk populations.
  • Oversees the America Reads Program through the American Reads Coordinator.
  • Assists in preparation of grant proposals.
  • Assume additional managerial responsibilities appropriate to the position in order to assure the attainment of District goals.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • Must be sensitive to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the community at-large.
  • A master’s degree and one year of related formal training, internship, or leadership experience.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • Two years of experience in a Student Service Program.
  • Grant management and budgetary experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Regular, full time, academic management position. Salary range: $57,920 to $69,261 per year based on 224 working days (placement dependent upon relevant experience). Annual doctoral stipend: $1,500. District-assisted health and welfare coverage for employee and dependents includes medical, dental, and vision. Life, accident, and income protection insurance premiums are available for the employee only. The District participates in contributions to the appropriate retirement system.


All offers of employment are contingent upon approval by the Board of Trustees, receipt of official transcripts verifying the degree stipulated under the minimum qualifications section, employment verification, and any other pertinent documentation.

Individual selected must be fingerprinted and submit to a tuberculosis examination.
