Language Lab Specialist

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
This is a 35-hour per week assignment, including 24 hours per week of instruction in the learning skills center with the balance of time devoted to preparation, committee work, and normal faculty duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: *
- Must be sensitive to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the community at-large.
- A Master's in TESL, TESOL, applied linguistics with a TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, or education with a TESL emphasis OR A Bachelor's in TESL, TESOL, AND A Master's in linguistics, applied linguistics, English, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, speech or any foreign language. OR A Master's in any language OR A Bachelor's in any language AND A Master's in linguistics. OR the equivalent from an accredited institution. (Applicants applying for equivalency consideration must submit a District form for Equivalency Committee review.)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*
- College course work in instructional technology, computers, or a related field.
- Experience as a technician in a LAN providing personal computer support.
- Experience with the use of computers in the language/ESL curriculum.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Regular, full time, academic, tenure-track position beginning August 12, 2004. Annual starting salary range: $42,226 to $59,983 based on 177 days (placement dependent upon educational background and appropriate full-time teaching experience). District-assisted health and welfare coverage for employee and dependents includes medical, dental, and vision. Life, accident, and income protection insurance premiums are available for the employee only. State Teacher's Retirement System (STRS) membership is required. The District participates in contributions to STRS.
Individual selected must be fingerprinted and submit to a tuberculosis examination.
