VOCATIONAL NURSING INSTRUCTOR

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Responsible for teaching in a Vocational Nursing Program. Will teach fundamentals and advanced concepts, and fulfill the professional responsibilities of a full-time faculty member, including, but not limited to: Teaching all scheduled classes; following the course outlines; keeping accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and progress; posting and maintaining scheduled office hours; developing curriculum and maintaining relationships with feeder schools as well as the health care community; maintaining personal contact with local health care agencies; maintaining clinical competency as required by the State of California; participating in and contributing to the on-going productivity of the department; participating in report writing and approval processes; maintain clinical currency; and perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • Must be sensitive to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the community at-large.
  • A Bachelor's in Nursing.
  • A current California Board of Registered Nursing License.
  • One year of full-time teaching experience in a state approved RN or LVN School within the past five years.
  • A minimum of two years experience as a RN within the past five years.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • A Master's in Nursing or the equivalent.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish or Tagalog).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Regular, full time, academic, tenure-track position beginning August 12, 2004. Starting salary commensurate with education and experience. Contract length is 177 days per academic year. District-assisted health and welfare coverage for employee and dependents includes medical, dental, and vision. Life, accident, and income protection insurance premiums are available for employee. State Teacher’s Retirement System (STRS) membership is required. The District participates in contributions to STRS.

All offers of employment are contingent upon approval by the Board of Trustees, receipt of official transcripts verifying the degree stipulated under the minimum qualifications section, employment verification, and any other pertinent documentation.

Individual selected must be fingerprinted and submit to a tuberculosis examination.
