REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Coordinate the organization of a new Tech-Prep Consortium based at Hartnell College by building a partnership with the feeder high schools, R.O.P.s, and industry/business partners.
- Coordinate with the various educational agencies to develop: articulated, sequential course work; integration of academic and vocational/technical instruction; the utilization of work-based/worksite learning where appropriate and available; coordinated support systems that includes articulation of career development activities; and an infrastructure for recording student and system performance.
- Coordinate between the local Tech-Prep and the School-to-Career efforts, attending the monthly Site Leadership meetings for School-to-Career and completing related matrixes and reports.
- Coordinate articulation meetings between R.O.P.s, secondary and post-secondary faculty, and administrators to create career pathways with a minimum of two years of secondary and a minimum of two years of postsecondary education in a non-duplicative, sequential course of study for students.
- Record and document the outcomes of articulation meetings, developing matrixes of secondary, R.O.P., and post-secondary non-duplicative, sequential courses of study and career pathways for students.
- Coordinate and participate in the development of recruitment literature, using articulation agreements, matrixes, career pathway information, articulated career development activities, and work-based learning opportunities.
- Coordinate and conduct visits to public schools, R.O.P.s, colleges, public agencies, and private businesses; visit feeder high schools, meet with students and counselors to promote the College, articulated career pathways, work-based learning opportunities, and career development activities.
- Establish schedules of recruitment activities: follow up on contacts made by College staff; establish, update and maintain recruitment database information; develop and implement a system for timely communications.
- Coordinate counseling faculty and faculty participation in professional development activities in such areas as: academic and occupational curriculum integration; contextual and applied instruction; curriculum integration of the Secretaries Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills the National Career Development Guidelines; articulated curriculum and career pathways; and work-based learning.
- Coordinate an advisory committee of business and industry partners.
QUALIFICATIONS: *
- Must be sensitive to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the community college students and the community at-large.
- Any combination equivalent to: A bachelor’s degree with emphasis in education, public relations or a closely related field and two years experience in program coordination or administration.
- Professional writing experience, federal and state grant writing and reporting experience preferred
- Event or workshop organization, public relation principles and practices, outreach and recruitment techniques along with public speaking techniques and meeting facilitation techniques using interpersonal skills, tact, patience and public courtesy strongly desired
- Computer literate, correct English usage, budget controls and basic mathematics abilities needed for curriculum design and development techniques
- A valid California driver’s license.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Grant-funded, full-time, 9 months-per-year position. Starting: $3,575; Range: $3,575 to $4,346 (5 Steps). District-assisted health and welfare coverage for employee and dependents includes medical, dental, and vision. District-assisted life, accident and income protection insurance is provided for the employee only. Must become a member of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS), and the California School Employees Association (CSEA). The District pays the classified employee’s contribution to PERS. Position is contingent on renewal of annual grant funding.
All offers of employment are contingent upon approval by the Board of Trustees, receipt of official transcripts verifying the degree stipulated under the minimum qualifications section, employment verification, and any other pertinent documentation.
Individual selected is required to be fingerprinted and must submit to a tuberculosis examination.
