ITR - Audio/Visual

How Audio/Visual Works

By ordering ahead you allow us to move equipment around the campus either in the afternoon, or at 7:30 a.m. when there is less foot traffic, rather than during heavy class times with only 10 minutes to retrieve equipment from one classroom and get it to another through crowds of students changing classes. However, if you need equipment, and miss the deadlines, call anyway. Last minute requests will always be filled if equipment is available, and if the requests are easily filled, then as little as ten minutes warning may be sufficient. Requests are filled in the order received. Please do not move equipment from another classroom to your own. You are depriving faculty members who have requested equipment of its use and you are creating problems for AV staff when equipment cannot be found.

No equipment is assigned to a classroom except that which is mounted on the wall. Do not assume that equipment that is "always" there will continue to be there unless you request it. It remains because someone else using the room has asked for it, but if their need for it ceases, it will be moved.

Most equipment ordered will be delivered and in place when you arrive at the classroom. The exceptions are portable items such as camcorders and CD-players. These must be checked out and signed for by a faculty member in person. Please call the technician for a time when these items can be picked up. The faculty member is responsible for the equipment during loan-out and for returning it at the agreed-upon time.

Reserving Audio / Visual Equipment

Instructional Equipment Request Forms are available in the Faculty / Staff Resource Center or can be downloaded online. Fill them out there and leave them in the Order box. Orders are picked up once a day at 10 a.m. Therefore, a request for an 8 a.m. class Wednesday must be written before 10 a.m. Tuesday; for an 8 a.m. class Monday before 10 a.m. Friday. If you need the same equipment for every class period, Standing Orders will be accepted whenever possible. Please indicate the first and last date of usage (as well as the day of the week) and check the "Standing Order" box. Orders are also received via telephone at ext. 6869 and by e-mail. Please include all information requested on the form. Do not send orders through the campus mail.

Instruction in the use of A V equipment is provided by appointment with the AV technician, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Because of limited staff, equipment operators cannot be provided. Occasionally equipment becomes defective. If this happens, call ext. 6869. The technician will assist you whenever possible.

Unfortunately after 5:00 p.m. there is no technician available, unless by special arrangement, and for a very significant event. So get your orders in on time.
