
Welcome to the Internet Literacy web site!
This course provides an overview of the wealth of information available through the Internet. Throughout the semester, you will have an opportunity to explore tools and techniques for effective web searching, explore web-based multimedia, participate in collaborative projects, create your own web pages, and use the Internet to perform your own research. You will also take part in dynamic, online discussions.

About Online Instruction
Are you unfamiliar with online learning and web-based instruction? Not every student finds online learning suitable. Some of the variables that affect your success as an online learner include the following:

You are encouraged to find a "study buddy" to work collaboratively on class assignments throughout the semester. All lectures and assignments for this class are available online through eCollege. You may use Hartnell library computers or your home computer and home Internet access to participate in the class.
Orientation
Recommended Orientation sessions will be held Tuesday, January 24, Library Information Competency Center, 4-5 p.m. or Wednesday, January 25, Library Information Competency Center, Noon - 1 p.m. You may also view an online orientation. IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND AN ORIENTATION, PLEASE BE SURE TO LOG ON TO THE COURSE NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, January 25 (the first short assignment is actually due Friday, January 27).
Once you log onto eCollege, there is also a built in Student Orientation Tutorial to acquaint you with the features built into eCollege.
BE SURE TO THOROUGHLY READ THE SYLLABUS AND THE ASSIGNMENT/DUE DATE CHART. Consider these documents my contract with you. They outline the rules and grading procedures of the class.
What Skills Should I Have to Start This Class?
