The American Cancer Society's 2004 Relay for Life at Hartnell College was a huge success!
Families and friends from across Salinas Valley joined together at Hartnell College's track to walk and support cancer research. Hartnell College's team raised $6,210 - surpassing it's goal! | May 1st, 2003 | Presentation by NASA Astronaut Daniel Bursch | ||

On Thursday, May 1st, U.S. Navy captain Dan Bursch, discussed his experiences as an astronaut and gave a video presentation of his 3 space missions composing of more than 227 days in space! A member of the astronaut program since 1991, he and fellow astronaut Carl Walz currently hold the U.S. flight endurance record of 196 days in the space.

| May 1st, 2003 | 2003 Physics Olympics | ||

On Thursday, May 1st, A one-day competition for about 125 physics students from Hartnell and five local high schools took place at Hartnell College. Some of the competitive events involve students building miniature bridges out of balsa wood, deflecting a laser beam through a series of rings to a target, and designing an "egg transport vehicle" to protect uncooked eggs that are dropped 40 feet. There is also an academic quiz.

On Friday, April 11th, hundreds of students attended the 7th Annual Non-Traditional Career Fair and took advantage of the "Hands On" opportunity to meet Business, Industry and Community Members from the Tri-County Region.

On March 17th, the Associated Students of Hartnell College joined community colleges statewide in a "Virtual March on Sacramento" to protest the current budget cuts aimed at California Community Colleges.

Over 130 high school students interested in
the Construction field converged on Hartnell to take part in Construction
Technology Day. This event was made possible through Hartnell
College Tech Prep, Monterey Bay Regional Partnership, and the Construction
Academy which is a joint venture of Mission Trails ROP and Hartnell
