Fifth Annual Future Farmers of America Field Day

At Hartnell College – East Alisal Campus

SALINAS, Calif.  – The Agricultural Business and Technology Institute at Hartnell Community College District is hosting the Annual Future Farmers of America Field Day, on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Alisal Campus, 1752 East Alisal St., Salinas, CA, 93905.

Future Farmers of America is an inter-curricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. Students will participate in three field competitions: Agriculture Pest Control, Vegetable Crop Judging, and Ag Welding. The competitions are open to all Future Farmers of America high school students in California. Over 150 high school students will participate.

Competitions will be hosted in the instructional shops, laboratories, and classrooms from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The campus resides on over 100 acres of land and features the latest technologies for high quality instruction, providing students with cutting-edge knowledge.  Students will be tested on their knowledge in their specific areas, then complete assigned tasks and be judged on their skills by executives from the local agricultural workforce and professional experts in the specific trade.

Participating schools include Salinas High School, Clovis High School, Patterson High School, Nipomo High School, Santa Ynez High School, North Salinas High School, Parlier High School, Highland Bakersfield High School, Greenfield High School, Santa Maria High School, Templeton High School, Tulare FFA, and Chowchilla High School.

This event is a great opportunity for our local and out-of-the-area FFA students to visit the Alisal Campus and learn about the Ag programs offered by Hartnell College in the areas of Ag Business, Ag Production, Food Safety, Manufacturing Technology, Advanced Diesel Technology, Automotive Technology and Welding.
