The Hartnell College Gallery is accepting multimedia artwork, music, poetry, short stories and performances, including theater and dance, for its free 22nd Annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration that opens Nov. 2.

Traditional and innovative interpretations of the holiday are encouraged and diverse cultures are encouraged to contribute to this exhibition, which will continue through Nov. 16. The submission deadline for “Bailando con la Muerte — Dancing with Death, a Community Celebration of Remembrance” is Oct. 27. Contact Trish Sullivan at psullivan@hartnell.edu or call (831) 594-1799.

Activities on Nov. 2 will include live performances and a procession from the gallery to downtown Salinas that will meet with processions from east Salina and continue to the Steinbeck Center/CSUMB Center for Arts & Culture, where a “Night of Fridas” Frida Kahlo lookalike contest will be held, along with more community art and performances.
