One hundred years of American popular, folk and concert music will be spotlighted in Hartnell College's "Americana Music Extravaganza" on Friday, March 19.
The evening, which includes dinner (with wine) and performances by Hartnell music groups, will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in Steinbeck Hall of the Hartnell College Center.
The event, presented by the Hartnell College Foundation, is a benefit for the college's instrumental and choral music programs, according to Carl Christensen, Hartnell music instructor. He said the concert will include American jazz, movie music, popular and folk music, as well as marches and music from musicals.
There will be six performing groups - the college's orchestra, jazz band, symphonic band, chorus, chamber singers and chorale.
Tickets are $25, and are available by calling the ticket hotline, (831) 770-6160. No tickets will be sold at the door.
