Hartnell Nursing Graduates to Hold Pinning Ceremony

May 30th, 2007

The Nursing Program at Hartnell College will hold its annual pinning ceremony following the college’s main graduation ceremony on Friday evening, June 1.

The college’s graduation ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. in the main gymnasium. The pinning ceremony will follow this, at approximately 9 p.m., and will move to the main stage of the performing arts facility. The ceremony will last approximately one hour.

At this ceremony, nursing students will receive their nursing pins and will recite the Nightingale Pledge, which is much like the Hippocratic Oath taken by physicians. Nursing pins, like nursing caps, are specific to each school and program.

Hartnell will graduate approximately 20 nurses from its Registered Nurse and Licensed Vocational Nurse programs this year.

For more information on the ceremony, please contact Rachel Failano, nursing skills lab instructor, at (831) 770-6153.
