Mary Colombo, a custodian at Hartnell College for the last 15 years, has won the college's top honor for non-teaching staff members-the Gleason Staff Award given by the Hartnell College Foundation.
She was recently honored at a campus ceremony, where she was presented with a $1,000 check and a commemorative clock.
A resident of Salinas, Colombo plans to retire this summer and eventually move to Oregon. She says she plans to enjoy gardening and jigsaw puzzles in her retirement years.
The Gleason award is for "outstanding performance," according to "D.C." Washington, custodial supervisor. He said Colombo is a valuable member of his team and "always gives 150 percent."
The Gleason Staff Award is presented annually and was established by the late Roy and Phyllis Gleason of King City
