International Community Dinners Offered at Hartnell College
Hartnell Student Group Holds Business Expo

October 27th, 2008

Hartnell College’s award-winning Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) club is holding its second annual free business exposition starting Thursday evening, November 6, and ending Friday afternoon, November 7, at the college’s main campus in Salinas. Business, student, and community leaders will present short seminars and workshops in both English and Spanish on a variety of topics.

Learn from the experts about personal income taxes, insurance, housing alternatives, energy efficiency, global investing, credit card protection, equal opportunity employment, contracts, computers, moving into a dorm, ethics, starting your own business, and various other topics. The club also will host a workshop to help participants plan for job interviews and to create winning job resumes. Bring your resume so that you can benefit from a one-on-one critique from a Hartnell College instructor, as well as receive personal advice on interview techniques.

The event is free and open to the public. There will be free parking in the garage on Central Avenue on Thursday after 5 p.m., and on the top of the parking structure on Friday.

The sessions will be held in several locations in the Hartnell College Center. Plan to come for one or two sessions or stay all day. Seminars start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, and continue hourly until 9 p.m. On Friday, sessions resume at 8 a.m. and continue hourly until 3 p.m. The SIFE Club has donated merchandise for door prizes to be awarded to participants.

For more information and an exact schedule of activities, please call Bob Maffei at 831-755-6744 for English, Joel Medrano at 585-6878 or Denise Duenas at 776-8050 for Spanish or English. Or, you can visit the club’s website at www.hartnell.edu/sife.

Hartnell’s SIFE organization has won the regional championship for two years in a row and is currently ranked in the top 16 for all two-year colleges participating in the SIFE USA program, which has 1,800 college and university members.
