SALINAS, Calif. - On Friday, November 22, 2013, the Hartnell College Gallery presents a Conversation with Claes Oldenburg moderated by Dennis Donohue on the Hat in Three Stages of Landing. This is a free event at 411 Central Avenue, Salinas.

In conjunction with the recent restoration of Salinas' iconic public sculpture Hat in Three Stages of Landing, the public is invited to a rare opportunity to hear world-renowned artist Claes Oldenburg's personal thoughts and recollections of this project.
At the Gallery, the public will enjoy an exhibition of preparatory models, documentation and photographs of the construction and installation of the original work, and a model of the restoration committee's vision of the future of the installation site of this important collaboration between Oldenburg and his late wife, Coosje von Bruggen.
After the reception, former Mayor of Salinas, Dennis Donohue will engage Oldenburg in a discussion of his work, and in particular, the Hat in Three Stages of Landing. Donohue has spearheaded the movement to restore and preserve this artwork for Salinas.

The work, now fully restored, will be re-dedicated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, at Sherwood Park on North Main Street, Salinas.
