Hartnell Speech Class Students Support Community Charities with Service Projects

November 20th, 2009

For the second year now, Hartnell speech students are doing good works, giving back to the community, and raising support for many of the area’s worthy causes through community service projects and fundraisers. Here’s how you can join in:

Yard Sale -- Alisal Community Healthy Start

On Saturday, November 21, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., drop by 114 Towt Street in Salinas to purchase goods or donate money at a yard sale to benefit the Alisal Community Healthy Start program. Alisal Community Healthy Start is a family-focused, school-linked program that serves the health, social service, and related needs of students and their families residing in East Salinas. For more information, contact Janette Flores at janettefl8@yahoo.com, or 831-269-6129.

Toy Drive - Boys and Girls Club

Bring your new toys or a monetary donation to the Student Center at Hartnell College, 411 Central Ave., Salinas, on Tuesday, November 24, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to benefit the Boys & Girls Club organization. Toys and donations will help us ensure that children in our community enjoy the fun of opening a present on Christmas day, even during these difficult times. Jamba Juice-Community Partnership for Youth

Students organizing this fundraiser, called “Stop Crime 24,” will distribute coupons around campus and at local businesses for you to use to make your purchase count. Participating locations in Salinas: 1552A N. Main Street and 1126 S. Main Street.
