The Young Inspiration Gospel Choir of the University of California, Berkeley, will present a multi-cultural choir/vocal concert at Hartnell College on Friday, Oct. 18.
The 10 a.m. performance will be presented on the main stage in the Performing Arts Building. The free event is open to the public and the campus community.
Conducted by its founding director Silvester Carl Henderson, the 55-member choir has been named the finest university gospel choir in the nation by the Smithsonian Institute.
The choir was formed in 1985. Although the choir's original membership was all African Americans, the choir immediately attracted the interest and support of Asians, Europeans, Latino Americans, and international Cal students.
