SALINAS – The Salinas Adult School Parent Center and MCOE's Early Start Program will be hosting a week-long open house for the public to attend the many different classes offered through the Parent Center for free!  The Parent Center is open Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Call 831-796-6970 for more information. 

 

SEASIDE – CSUMB Diversity Day: 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Families with their children can participate in making Mosaic tiles to celebrate their unique cultures and heritages.  Finished tiles will be displayed on the main campus.  CSUMB Child Development Center (Building 91), 100 Campus Center, Seaside. SALINAS – Hartnell College Preschool Enrollment: Start of priority enrollment for the 2005/06 school year. Children must be three years old by Dec. 2, 2005 to enroll. SALINAS – Family Literacy Night: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Come watch story books come alive as the Salinas Public Library, Alisal Community Healthy Start Family Resource Center, and Women's Crisis Center host a night for young children and their families focused on literacy.  Children can listen to a story and complete a craft project with their families.  A free book will be provided to every child age 0-5 who attends the event.  Family Literacy Night will take place at the Alisal Community Healthy Start Family Resource Center located at 1441 Del Monte Avenue, Salinas.  Call 775-4500 for more information.

SEASIDE – Day of the Young Child:  8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  Literacy information and resources for families with young children including informative skits to help build literacy and good dental health.  Free admission includes breakfast, entertainment, games, raffle and gifts. SEASIDE – Fire Safety Day: 2:00 p.m.  – 4:00 p.m. The Pacific Grove Fire department will be present with their Fire Safety Trailer.  The Safety Trailer is a miniature replica of an apartment/ house where children can walk through, explore and learn about fire safety in the home. SALINAS – Spring Garden Party: 4:00 p.m. Families of enrolled children are invited to bring a plant to add to the garden in honor of their child. SEASIDE – Earth Appreciation/Diversity Day: The preschool will do some planting and venture off to The Watershed Institute as they did last year; while the toddlers will have various activities, such as planting, sorting games that revolve around the recycling concept. KING CITY – Community Health Faire: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Over 30 local agencies will be present to educate the community about services available in South County and will be providing fun activities for families.  A special section for children will be available in celebration of Week of the Young Child. South County Regional Health Partners, Inc. will also debut their new services through the School Readiness Program offered in King City, San Ardo and San Lucas to help children ages 0-5 get ready for kindergarten.
