In spring of 2015, we included an article on twin brothers Fernando and Ricardo Valenzuela-Acharte. (See page 2 at this link). Along with their mother Silvia, the young men were given the opportunity to come to the United States in 2010 – but had to leave their father and older brother behind in Peru.

They attended adult school to learn English and in 2012, the twins entered Hartnell as STEM students studying engineering. Right before the holiday break in December 2017, their mother and father stopped by my office and invited me to attend their graduation from UC Davis. Both completed bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering. Congratulations to everyone who played a role in the success of these students!
