On Saturday, January 28, 2017, The Women’s Education and Leadership Institute(WELI) held a special quarterly workshop and mentor meeting featuring our Director of Communications, Marketing and Public Relations, Esmeralda Montenegro Owen, as the Keynote Speaker. Esmeralda shared empowering and insightful stories featuring some of the trials and triumphs in her life.

“Through her challenging life journey and prestigious accomplishments in the media and education world, she embodies the spirit and intent of the WELI Program,” said Bronwyn Moreno, Director of Student Affairs at Hartnell College. “Her story of perseverance and success in the face of adversity make her an inspirational and accessible role model to women from all backgrounds.”

A panel of 10 strong and inspiring women from our local area followed with Counselor Mercedes Del Real as the moderator. The guests shared heartfelt stories as they answered questions in hopes of becoming a personal influence to the women of WELI.

WELI Cohort VI enjoyed meeting one on one with the panelists during lunch and to end the day with their own mentors to work on goals and life success via education and mentorship.
