Presidential Qualifications

Required and Desired Qualifications and Characteristics

  1. Master’s degree from an accredited institution, earned doctorate preferred.
  2. Minimum of three years of documented successful administrative experience in higher education, preferably in community colleges.
  3. Proven effectiveness in shared governance and collective bargaining or documentation of similar experience.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching and learning processes at the college level.
  5. Demonstrated record of community service and involvement, particularly in culturally diverse settings.
  6. Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students including those with disabilities. Demonstrated record of working effectively with the Mexican/Mexican American/Chicano community preferred.
  7. Experience with, or working knowledge of, technology and a vision of its uses.

  6. established high expectations for student, faculty, staff, administrative, and board performance.
  7. increased participation in underserved areas in the district  through outreach, partnerships, and visibility, particularly in currently under-served areas.
  8. communicated effectively with the Spanish speaking community.
