Summary of Agenda Item:NOTE: This was a joint meeting of RAC/FIS/Cabinet. Only RAC members voted on motions:
Motions passed 6/25/2009 by Resource Allocations Committee (RAC)

1.
The motion was:

RAC recommends to the District that they begin collective bargaining to keep open the Math Lab and Computer Lab, with reduced personnel and close the Reading and Writing Lab in Salinas and King City Center, for Fall Semester 2009.

Math Lab will be staffed with one full time faculty and will be open 24 hours/week.
Computer Lab will be staffed with part time faculty and be open 24 hours/week.

The Tutorial Center, Math Lab, and Computer Lab will share clerical support that already exists.

The financial impact on these changes will result in potential savings to the District of $311,300 for one semester.

Motion was so moved and seconded. (Motion made by Kelly Locke, seconded by Dale Fuge).

The motion was:

RAC recommends that the Student Services categorical programs proposal be forwarded on to CSEA to begin negotiations. Savings to the District in the unrestricted general fund would result in salary savings of $115,000 for the AIS Programmer’s salary who is assigned to Student Affairs division projects.

Motion was so moved and seconded. (Motion made by Kelly Locke, seconded by Dale Fugue)

After discussion, RAC members present with voting rights all voted in favor. No abstentions.
