TWS Young Company
Summer Programs to Present “For the Love of Arlen” and “The Anderson Project”
"For the Love of Arlen", a YCPresents project.
Performs Saturday & Sunday, August 6, 7, 13, 14 @ 2:00pm
TWS's Young Company celebrates Harold Arlen's 100th birthday with his most beloved and recognizable songs. Arlen was one of the most prolific American composers, having created over 500 songs with 20 different lyricists. YCPresents is a summer theatre program that introduces young actors between the ages of 8 & 18 to Musical Theatre skills. Original works are created by and for the acting ensemble, and are presented to the public to give young actors the experience of production under the guidance of theatre professionals.
"The Andersen Project", a Play's-the-Thing project.
Performs Friday, Saturday, Sunday, August 12, 13, 14 @ 10:30am
Hans Christian Andersen, best known for tales such as The Little Mermaid, The Match Girl, The Ugly Duckling and The Steadfast Tin Soldier, celebrates his 200th birthday in 2005. TWS's Young Company has created an original script to share some of his lesser-known, but just as beautifully written, stories. Play's-the-Thing is a summer program designed to introduce young actors between the ages of 8 & 18 to the process of playwrighting and acting through improvisation. Each summer an original work is created by and for the specific actors who are part of the program. The program culminates in performances that give these developing artists the opportunity to share their work with the public.
