The Western Stage Young Company will be holding auditions for actors between the ages of 8-20 to join one of the most affordable and stimulating arts programs in Monterey County. Every summer, the TWS Young Company offers unique programs for young people interested in learning about theatre arts.

Play’s-the-Thing is a process-oriented program that teaches aspects of rehearsal, production, and performance. This program offers a highly supportive environment that has proven to help students increase their self-awareness and confidence while they experience improvisation, playwrighting, and play production. An audition is required. Students will be involved in the creation and rehearsal of an original production, which will have three public performances.

YCPresents is a production-oriented program that focuses on aspects of rehearsal, technical production, and performance. The division produces two YCP projects each season: a summer musical project and a fall non-musical play. Summer projects include several original revues of Broadway song and dance numbers and original scripts, and fall productions include titles such as Liza and the Riddling Cave, The Curate Shakespeare As You Like It, and The Code Breaker. An audition is required. The six-week rehearsal process culminates in four public performances.

This season The Western Stage Young Company will be introducing Callback, a new project for emerging actors ages 16 – 20.  An audition is required to participate.

Interested students and parents should call The Western Stage at 759-6037 to schedule an audition appointment.
