The Western Stage Holding Auditions for Young Performers
Calling all actors between the ages of 12 and 18! The Western Stage is holding auditions, Saturday, September 4th & Saturday, September 11th, for its holiday show Into the Woods. Broadway legends Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine revisit our favorite childhood stories with this darkly comedic musical that asks if there really is such a thing as “happily ever after”.
The journey into the magical forest of Into the Woods begins when a Baker and his wife enlist the help of a Wicked Witch to help them have a baby. Yet, as everyone who has ever read a fairy tale knows, making a bargain with a witch is never a simple matter. In order to help them, the Wicked Witch requires a lock of golden hair, a bright red hood, and several other items familiar to anyone who has heard these classic tales by the Brothers Grimm. So, into the woods the Baker and his wife go to collect these items, leading the audience with them into the mysterious and magical world of childhood adventure.
Into the Woods offers wonderful roles for young performers of all experience levels. Come help TWS bring beloved characters, like Rapunzel, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of beanstalk fame), and the Big Bad Wolf, to life for local audiences (young and old.) It promises not only be a powerful life experience for the children who participate, but also a wonderful learning opportunity.
Longtime TWS director and choreographer Anne Marie Hunter will direct this magical holiday musical. To schedule an audition, call The Western Stage casting office at (831) 759-6037.
