Speech Team makes fourth at Mustang tournament, led by Lundin

The Hartnell Speech Team earned a fourth-place team award at the Mustang Invitational Tournament on Nov. 2 at San Joaquin Delta College, competing against 10 two-year schools.

Leading the team was student Luke Lundin, who received first place in Open Informative Speaking and fourth place in Novice Poetry Interpretation.

“With this win, Luke has moved one step closer to qualifying for the national tournament,” Coach Jason Hough said. “If he places in the top three in finals one more time, he will represent Hartnell at the national championships for his event.”

Also earning individual awards were teammates: Michaela Miller, third place, Novice Program of Oral Interpretation; Valerie Becerra, fourth place, Novice After-Dinner Speaking; and Victor Marquez, fifth place, Novice Informative Speaking. Also competing for Hartnell Isaac Rodriguez and Anthony Fashano.
