Spring FEST at TWS turns to ‘Ubu Roi’ After kickoff with ‘Celebration ’69’

“Celebration ’69,” a multimedia presentation of “that crazy year,” 1969, kicked off SpringFEST 2019 at The Western Stage with two full-house performances on Feb. 8-9. The show was conceived and presented by Communication Studies instructor Mark Shilstone.

The spotlight on local talent will continue Feb. 23-24 with a return of the play “Ubu Roi,” an all-student production of the Alfred Jarry adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.” Both shows are free and begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Studio Theater (K-125).

Next, on March 2-3, will be “Legacy Players in Performance,” staged readings by 12 veteran actors from Monterey County who have together have more than five centuries of theatre experience. Those shows are also free and begin at 2 p.m.
