Board Policies

3000 Admission Policy
Hartnell College shall admit students who meet one of the following requirements and who are capable of profiting from the instruction offered:

a. Any California resident and any non-resident possessing a high school diploma or equivalent, such as a Certificate of Proficiency by the State Board of Education or the California High School Equivalency (GED).

b. Provisional students or any other person over the age of 18 who is capable of profiting from the instruction offered.

c. Any apprentice as defined in Section 3077 of the Labor Code who is capable of profiting from the instruction offered.

d. Students whose age or class level is equal to grades 9-12 may attend Hartnell College as special part-time students, special full-time students, or special summer session students for advanced scholastic, vocational, or physical education courses in accordance with the procedures published in the college catalog.

e. Any student enrolled in grades 9-12 may attend summer session in accordance with the procedures published in the college catalog.

f. Non high school students enrolled in K-8 districts may attend Hartnell College for advanced scholastic courses only as special part-time students. This does not include physical education or vocational courses. Students will be admitted in accordance with the procedures published in the college catalog.

g. Students under the jurisdiction of the Department of the Youth Authority if they otherwise qualify. They shall be admitted as district resident students.

h. Foreign students including refugees. Foreign students must meet the requirements of Board Policy 3030. Refugee students may be enrolled subject to the terms of section 76141-76142, Education Code.
