Five Community Leaders Named to Hartnell College Foundation

Five distinguished community leaders have been named to the board of directors of the Hartnell College Foundation, a nonprofit corporation that supports and benefits the local college district. They are:
Karen Fanoe, a Hartnell graduate, supports many charitable causes throughout Monterey County. She is a member of the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and several other organizations.

Sam Linder (honorary director) is principal owner of Sam Linder Cadillac Honda in Salinas, Jaguar Land Rover Monterey in Seaside, and Vancouver Ford/Hyundai in Vancouver, Wash. He is involved with numerous community activities, including the American Cancer Societyís Relay for Life.

Claudia Pizzaro, formerly coordinator of Hartnellís Teachers for Tomorrow program, is executive director of the Monterey Health Consortium. She is involved with several local organizations, including Salinas Rotary, Shelter Outreach Plus and the Salinas Chamber of Commerce.

August Scornaienchi, a Hartnell graduate, held several administrative positions with the Alameda County Office of Education. He is currently an independent consultant with numerous organizations.

Donald Young, former Hartnell administrator, is past director and chief financial officer of the Hartnell College Foundation. Currently an independent Certified Public Accountant, he volunteers for the Alliance on Aging, preparing tax returns and providing counseling for the elderly.

The 25-year-old Hartnell College Foundation and its 30-member board of directors support numerous college programs and projects.
