The Associated Students of Hartnell College has declared April as “Sustainability Month” at Hartnell. Events to celebrate and educate about our collective responsibility to the environment include:
April 2 - Sustainability Panel Discussion, noon - 1 p.m., Steinbeck Hall. Local and regional experts and students talk about sustainability, including energy uses, personal transportation, even the food we eat. Panelists include Denyse Frischmuth from Sustainability Salinas; Mark Folsom, a consulting professional engineer; James Welden, on waste disposal issues; and Mary Berube, student senator for environment at CSUMB.
Learn how you can contribute to the health of our planet and ensure a good environment for your children and grandchildren .
April 9 - Screening of the movie "Inconvenient Truth," noon to 1 p.m., Hartnell College Center, room 116.
April 21- Poetry readings on sustainability and the environment in Steinbeck Hall. Time to be announced.
April 23-Screening of the movie “Crude Awakening,” noon-1 p.m., Hartnell College Center, room 116.
April 26 - Earth Day, Family Science and Health Day, Native American Pow Wow. In this all-campus, day-long event, the Sustainability Committee will set up information tables at the College Center Commons.
