Daylong Assortment of Activities Planned for Dedication of Two New Buildings
at Hartnell College

A daylong host of activities will be held at Hartnell College on Friday,
May 12, to celebrate the dedication of two new buildings on campus.
While the dedication of the new library/learning resource center and
parking facility takes place at 3 p.m., many other activities are planned
throughout the day. Here are some of the scheduled events, which are free and open to
the public:
Library Demonstrations - State-of-the-art features of the new
library/learning resource center will be demonstrated, 3:30-6:30 p.m.;
Choral Concerts - Hartnell's choral groups, conducted by music
instructor Sandy Rudo, quad area, 10 a.m.-noon;
Harp Concert - William Faulkner, music instructor, will play the harp in
the Ampitheater, 4-5:30 p.m.;
Art Show - The annual Student Art Show will be on view in the Hartnell
Gallery, located in the Visual Arts Building, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.;
Child Development Center Tours - Tours of the facility will be
available, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.;
Open House for High School Seniors and Parents - A special program of
campus tours and classroom demonstrations designed especially for Salinas Valley
high school seniors, 3- 6 p.m.;
Planetarium Shows - every hour on the hour at the planetarium, 10 a.m.-6
p.m.;
Student Services Information - Various displays on services available at
Hartnell for current and potential students, such as counseling and financial
aid information, in the College Center, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.;
Center for Teacher Education Displays - Various displays on teacher
education with hands-on activities about the teaching profession, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.;
Barbecue - The Associated Students and the Interclub Council will
present a no-host barbecue with live music, quad area, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m.;
President's Office - Open house, 10 a.m.-noon;
International/Intercultural Education Center - Open house, noon-2 p.m.
The dedication of the new library and parking facility will be held at 3
p.m. in the landscaped area and circle driveway between the two buildings,
which are located on Central Avenue across from Central Park. The public is
invited to attend the dedication.
