Public Invited to Grand Opening of Hartnell College's King City Education Center on Sept. 6

August 28, 2002

The public is invited to attend the grand opening of Hartnell College's new King City Education Center on Friday, Sept. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The facility, located at 117 N. Second St. in downtown King City, was built to meet the ever-growing educational needs of south county residents, according to Paulette Bumbalough, Hartnell's director of education services for south county. It opened its doors to students this summer.

"We invite everyone to our grand opening," said Bumbalough. "We are very proud of our facility and want the community to see their new local college center."

In addition to classes, the new campus offers several student services, including counseling and financial aid assistance.

During the grand opening, visitors will be able to take self-guided tours of the two-story, 12,000-square-foot facility and its five classrooms, computer laboratory and learning skills center.

There also will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m., which will include presentations by community leaders and the unveiling of a five-foot-long stone panther, Hartnell's mascot.

The King City High School band will present musical entertainment, and there will be light refreshments.
