Hartnell College President Urges Students to Attend Classes Despite
Threatened Strike by Faculty
September 13th, 2006
Edward J. Valeau, Hartnell College president, is urging students to attend classes despite a threatened strike by the college's faculty. The fall semester began August 21.
In a recorded telephone message to students and their parents, Valeau said the college is committed to staying open and conducting classes if faculty members decide to strike. "We want to assure you," he said, "that we will make every effort to staff your classes."
Valeau also said every effort is being made to find "a resolution to a very complex situation."
A special phone line has been established to answer questions and concerns from students and community members. That number is (831) 755-6890.
