Hartnell’s MESA Robotics Club will host the Second Annual Robotics Olympics in December. During the event, which occurs on four different days, 19 teams of more than 50 students representing Hartnell College and four high schools will compete in two competitions involving Parallax Boe-Bot robots at Hartnell College.
The college event begins on Tuesday, December 2, from 11 a.m. to noon, when engineering students from Professor Jim Butler’s class compete against the MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) Robotics Club in a Line-Following Competition in room 11 of Merrill Hall.
The high school competition occurs on Sunday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students from Soledad, King City, Everett Alvarez, and North Salinas high schools will face off in robotics competitions in Merrill Hall. From 9 to 11 a.m., in room 12, students compete in a Line Following Competition; from noon to 1 p.m. they will participate in Wiring Circuits for the Maze Competition, in room 11; and from 1 to 4 p.m. they will compete in the Maze Competition in the Rotarium. The Sunday event is free and open to the public.
The college competition continues on December 9 and 11, from 11 a.m. to noon, in the Rotarium with a Maze Competition.
